Founding members of the Hanoi International Football League and its most decorated club. This is the story so far, taken from the league's own records.
The Drink Team was founded in 1993, when Hanoi's expat football scene was a handful of friendly kickabouts. The crest tells the story: a red dragon on the gold star, with a football at one foot and a bottle in the other. The priorities have never changed.
In September 2002 the club was one of the six founding teams of the Hanoi International Football League, alongside Capitals, FPT, Japan Embassy, Minsk and Laska. Drink won that first league in December 2002 with 6 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat, five points clear of Laska.
It set the tone. For the league's first fifteen seasons Drink never finished below fourth. There were titles in 2004/05 (by eleven points), back-to-back titles in 2008/09 and 2009/10, and then the dynasty: three in a row from 2011/12 to 2013/14, the first of them with the HIFL Cup for the club's first double.
Squads turned over, as expat squads do, and the late 2010s were leaner years. The comeback came in 2022/23, one of the great HIFL seasons: 19 wins from 24, 100 goals scored and just 20 conceded, which is still the league record. That season brought a 14–0 win at INB, the HIFL Cup (4–1 against Inter Hanoi in the final) and a league title shared with Minsk.
Relegation from D1 in 2025/26 hurt. A penalty shoot-out defeat to Roots in the promotion play-off final hurt more. So in 2026/27 the Drink Team plays in HIFL Division 2, and the aim is to go straight back up.
